Maya House, Inc. ("Maya House," "we," "us") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing recovery-informed transitional housing in Worcester County, Massachusetts. We take privacy seriously, for visitors to this website, and above all for the residents and referral subjects whose information we are entrusted with. This policy describes what we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We collect information you choose to give us: your name, email address, phone number, and message when you contact us; referral information submitted by partner organizations; donation details when you give (name, contact information, gift amount); and volunteer or in-kind offer details. We do not require an account, and we do not buy or sell mailing lists.
Referral and resident information
Information submitted as part of a referral (including health, housing history, and recovery-related information) is treated as confidential. It is used only to evaluate the referral, is shared only with staff who need it to make an intake decision, and is retained only as long as required for program administration and applicable law. Resident records are never used for marketing and are never disclosed publicly. Outcome data we publish is aggregated and de-identified.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to respond to inquiries, process referrals, acknowledge and receipt donations, coordinate volunteers, and meet our legal and grant-reporting obligations. If you opt in to updates, we will use your email to send them; every message includes a way to unsubscribe.
Donations
Online donations are processed by a third-party payment processor; Maya House does not store full card numbers. Donor names and gift amounts are recorded for receipting and IRS purposes. We do not publish donor names without written permission, and we do not sell, rent, or trade donor information.
Sharing with third parties
We share information only with service providers who help us operate (such as email and payment processors, bound by their own confidentiality obligations), when required by law or court order, or with your consent. We never sell personal information.
Security and retention
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to a small nonprofit, restrict access to confidential records to staff who need them, and retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as law requires.
Your choices
You may ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where the law allows. You may unsubscribe from updates at any time. To make any of these requests, contact us at info@mayahouse.org.
