P. Morris Kromah

P. Morris Kromah is the Founder and Executive Director of Maya House, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals experiencing homelessness rebuild their lives through transitional housing, peer accountability, and supportive services. His vision for Maya House was shaped by years of experience in the nonprofit sector, including helping formerly incarcerated individuals successfully reintegrate into society, and by his extensive leadership in public housing, where he has worked alongside low-income residents facing multidimensional barriers to success, including poverty, behavioral and mental health challenges, housing instability, and obstacles to achieving self-sufficiency. These experiences reinforced his belief that stable housing, combined with compassionate support and personal accountability, provides the foundation for lasting change.

Morris's commitment to this work is deeply personal. As a child, he fled Liberia's civil war and spent years as a refugee in Sierra Leone and Guinea after losing his father during the conflict. Despite unimaginable hardship, he was given the opportunity to begin again through the compassion and generosity of others. That second chance shaped his life's purpose and inspired a commitment to give back by creating opportunities for others to rebuild their own lives. Through Maya House, Morris is working to extend that same opportunity, offering individuals experiencing homelessness a place to regain stability, restore hope, and build a pathway toward independence and a brighter future.
